DRUMLINE TIMING AND MOVEMENT

Warm-up lasts 35 minutes. Your assigned Traveling Clinician arrives for the last 15 minutes of your warm-up. We plan 10 minutes of travel time to the clinic area.

Stadium Clinics: You have 20 minutes total to enter, perform, work with clinicians and exit.
Ultimate Lot Clinics (TBD): You have 30 minutes total to enter, perform, work with clinicians and exit.

DRUMLINE ADJUDICATION AND SCORING

Your assigned Traveling Clinician observes you twice, first during warm-up and again during your clinic performance. The traveling clinicians do not score your group, providing constructive comments only.

Clinicians assigned to the Stadium and Ultimate Lot area critique all components of your clinic performance and make constructive comments in an effort to promote improvement and solidify achievement.

Stadium Scoring: Three Stadium Judges observe your performance and clinic each drumline as time permits. Drumlines are scored within their classification, with the weight of the scoring placing 40% of the value on technique, 40% on musicality and 20% on general effect. The numbers are added to arrive at the drumline’s total score. Outstanding caption awards are determined according to judge consensus.
Ultimate Lot Scoring: The Ultimate Lot clinician observes all performances and works with each drumline as time permits. There are no placement scores. A number of distinction awards will be determined according to clinician consensus.

2020 HEB DRUMLINE CONTEST CANCELLED

After much consideration we have canceled the 2020 HEB Drumline Contest. Originally postponed from September 19 to November 14, the upward spiral of COVID-19 at the end of October makes this decision necessary as we keep the safety of students, faculty and stakeholders foremost in mind.

Instructors: Thank you for your efforts and actions on behalf of your students and programs. We will come out on the other side of this stronger and better prepared to face any challenge. Take care and stay well.
